In ancient time, the famous Greek Polibio wrote of the “wines of the Piceni” and who knows if Mario Soldati had perhaps been thinking of this area when he was in the Marche and spoke of “houses and wineries untouched by the passage of time”. A land still little urbanized and of rare beauty, where life has found a fertile dwelling place and speaks many languages: the native varieties of white grapes such as Trebbiano, Passerina and the re-discovered Pecorino share the land with the delicate rusticity of the red Sangiovese and the vigorous force of the “black” Montepulciano. From the mix of the whites you find the blend called Falerio and from the reds, the Rosso Piceno Superiore, the traditional wines of the territory which today are joined also by the Docg of Offida and the much appreciated interpretations of the mono variety wines. Much of the vineyard and agricultural acreage is farmed organically and this is combined with the unique terroir and the respect for nature which has always been fundamental in the making of the quality wines of the beautiful Piceno hills.
